About Me

Meet Stephanie
Why hello there! How ya going?

I started Adventures in Aussieland when I first moved to Australia from the US. Initially, this blog was a way to share my Aussie adventures with loved ones back home. I wanted to share my stories and encourage my loved ones to travel!

Since its inception, Adventures in Aussieland has grown and evolved. I've incorporated my knowledge of mental health and fitness to help ensure everyone works towards their healthiest adventure, no matter the journey.

Adventures in Aussieland is about stepping outside your comfort zone, encouraging personal growth while challenging yourself. I share travel tips and tricks, travel stories, fitness motivation, and health & wellness tips. My motto: the journey is just as important as the destination

5 Fun Facts About Me
1. I have a Bachelors of Psychology, Graduate Diploma of Applied Behavioural Analysis, and a Masters of Special Education.

2. I started travelling internationally in 2013. Since then I've visited 17 countries (and counting).

3. I've spent the last eight years working in the mental health field working to increase awareness and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health conditions. The last 4 years, I've operated a private practice here in Australia.

4. I have two chronic health conditions that sometimes make travel difficult, but not impossible!

5. I have an adorable doggo named Archer. I try to take him on as many adventures as possible, so you'll occasionally see him pop up on the blog and my social media.

My Immigrant Life
If you asked me six years ago if I ever planned on moving from the US, my answer would have been no. But then, I suffered a significant loss in my family, travelled to Europe, and fell in love with seeing the world. After volunteering in Bali for a short time, I felt it was time for me to leave the States.

Many immigrants from the States tend to refer to themselves as 'expats.' I try to steer away from this label as it seems to be more inclusive of Western cultures. The word "immigrant" often holds a very negative stigma, something I'm working to reduce.

Adjusting to life in a new country can be quite challenging. Many bloggers do not share the continual struggles immigrants face. I'm trying to change that sharing the good, the bad, and the ugly.
